so we have a 2002 Ford Focus now! its ours, go us!
ok, so we have a payment on the focus and the mystery machine now and for both, the total payments are still $40 less than the one payment on the caravan was! way cool. insurance is about the same as what it was on the ford truck, so no biggie on that one. good news also is that no caravan payment will draw this month since it got closed out before the date, so that's extra $ we'll have now (its already got somewhere to go, but still. )

I did figure up our numbers tonight. seeing where we've come from where we started back in September. Our debt that we owe (not including the house) is $10K LESS than it was in September 2006 now!!!!!! (and yes, that is even with the 2 new vehicle loans) that is a LOT of headway to have been made for us! I'm very proud of us for doing that. I'm not saying that boastfully either, I'm saying it as a family that was scraping for a penny to be left over and usually that penny wasn't there. I'm saying it as a family who has learned their financial lesson and are trying hard to show a better life for their children and themselves. I'm saying it as a mom who doesn't want to tell her kids they cant have a quarter for a gumball machine cause I'm worried if I'll need that stupid quarter for something else!
we still have a long way to go (gosh, is it ever so hard to explain that to a kid), but we can see the progress and it does feel good! we're finally getting somewhere after so many years of just being stuck in the mud! it just boggles my mind how we made it through month after month before. when we get more stuff paid off, I'll be thinking the same thing still. there are a LOT of lines left to mark off our list (of debts) so I need to buckle down some more and get serious again.
ok, happy dance on hold for now. :-)
it was a long, but good day. we spent about 3 hours at the bank in all, got insurance on the focus, stopped to see if my brother was awake (nope), dh met us at the bank, which was great cause it saved me from bringing the paperwork home and taking it back in the morning.
we had subs for dinner (meatball and ham) and watched 24 and CSI: Miami.
never made it to my moms today, we'll be heading over in the morning after breakfast.
ok, gotta go get my shower!

the big news
we're trading vehicles!
this is all part of our process of getting out of debt.
we got an even trade on the van for dh trading his truck in (both are the same year) and we'll be selling my current minivan. the outstanding balance will be on the 'new' van. we'll only have one car payment and one insurance payment.
the BEST thing is that we'll have ROOM in the van! oh my gosh! nothing like trying to pack a can of sardines every time we load up. :P now the kids have LOTS of leg room/play room even and dont gripe about getting in the van! heaven!!
it feels HUGE to drive it though so I'll have a lot of getting used to. :)
I told dh I wanted to paint flowers across the sides and name it the Mystery Machine. ^_^
I'm excited! and feel very very blessed actually. :)

Happy Birthday! that's awesome!!
we had a good day, nothing special happened really, just a good all around day. the kids didn't do much at all on school work mostly my fault for sleeping in late today, but we'll work on making up tomorrow.
my parents came over for dinner (baked chicken with rotini and cheese sauce, fried red taters, mac/cheese for the kids, green beans, meatballs and rolls). my mom brought me a gift over! its one of the Crayola cutters. its really cool but I'll have to practice with it. it'll be so neat for scrapping!
My little sister sent me a card today, but I didn't hear from my brother (which isn't surprising LOL ). FIL called, but he didn't remember my bday either (that is totally not surprising! LOL) and I didn't remind him. no biggie!
I'm hoping G sleeps well tonight. I'll be heading to the shower after this post. I am tired tonight, so gotta get my rest while I can.
I was getting tickled at him today though, he's getting more and more brave about letting go when standing. several times while he'd be standing at my legs, I'd feel him let go to like rub his eyes or something. don't know if he realizes he stands by himself though. he thinks its hilarious to stand out in front of me and I try to get him to walk to me.
he's getting insistent on feeding himself snack foods. his puffs must be fed by him or else he'll guide my hand to his mouth. he has to have his own spoon many times during feeding cause he'll try to hijack my spoon and then its a wrestle match to get it back. LOL!
a Gavin funny from today: he got all serious on me and asked me "mommy, who's baby were you?"
I said "mamaw's"
him:
"MAMAW MADE YOU A BABY???"

me: "yes. and uncle John and Aunt Kimmy are also Mamaw's babies."

kids are SO dang funny!!!
and in some totally awesome news, I added up what we've paid off so far since we started our 'money makeover' in September and *drum roll please* our current paid-off total is $4885.92!!!!!!!!!!!! that is SO awesome feeling!!! amazing!!! it puts wind in my sails and a smile on my face! we've got a long way to go, probably a couple years worth, but man, what a great feeling to know we've done that much already!!!

on our way to being debt free, a wee bit more
gotta get an 8 month update gathered up!
Garrett is turning a corner in his development again. he's taking chances on free standing, not big ones, but like while he stands at my legs, he'll very briefly let go and just be standing on his own. he's also getting brave enough to go between cruising places. I think his first solo steps will be soon.
I was playing with him last night, standing him out in front of me to see what he'd so and he lunges for me. LOL! he'll soon start taking a step and then more, and it works on from there!
he's wide awake right now, standing at my legs, laughing and gabbing up a storm. everything is funny, I don't know if he's delirious or what!
we had a good day, even with my huge list of things to do! the kids did great w/ the help of the portable DVD player!
my day went kinda like so:

get OL and pay off 2 bills WOO!
I've got 2 more bills to pay off, but will have to wait til Tues when they open (don't think they'll be open on Monday). we'll also get dh's boots and have some $ for our anniversary. :) so yeah, its all gone essentially, but its all good!
(G is now in his crib and is playing with the activity center. poor sissy. LOL!)
ok, he's back out here. this child is wide AWAKE. guess its a good thing I've got a little bit of spark left in me. LOL!
while at TRU I did find a couple of good deals. they had some packs of tank onesies (sleeveless) in the 18-24m size for $5.50, plus I had a $1 coupon for them, so G will have those for the spring/summer. plus a cute dolphin sprayer that attaches to the side of the 'ring' pools, it was $2. figure it'll be fun for them this summer while they're splasin in the pool! plus I got the huge box of TRU dipes for $16 cause I had a $5 coupon on those (144 ct box). so he's set with diapers til the end of March I think! LOL
dinner was easy, dh wasn't that hungry, so it was just soup for tonight!
he's got a half day tomorrow (hopefully) and if he gets home around lunch, like he's hoping, we'll go ahead and do our day out tomorrow. if he gets in later then we'll just try another weekend. I'd like to have at least half a day to play around ya know? ;)
haven't decided where to go to eat yet. he's letting me pick this year cause he picked last year. I looooooooooooooooooooove Outback and could really go for one of their steaks, but I also wouldn't mind trying out one of the Japanese restaurants. we rarely do anything different like that (not that we don't like foreign foods, we do, its just the opportunity to go!). so I cant decide!
aw, G just laid down on the floor and is starting to snore. guess he's just having to wear himself out tonight. :P

why no pay off
well, found out why its been so dang hard to get anything paid off this year.
we're on our first baby step in Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover and have only gotten one small bill paid off.
Course the holidays make it hard to save a lot of money and such, but still, we seen dh has made about 6K less this year than last! that's like 2 months of no money! no dang wonder its so hard.
Living on the edge of disaster as it is and that makes it even harder. ugh. tax returns will be great in helping with this stuff. *sigh*

CARS and stuff
we just got finished watching Cars, very cute movie! we'll be buying that one!
Went to go vote today and the kids always get happy for that. "don't forget to vote mom!" before that I stopped and checked my consignments and I'd made $13.50 so far! asked her about bringing in my travel system and she said anytime, so I just need to clean it up! hopefully I'll get a good price on that (and that it'll sell soon) so I can put that towards the current snowball bill.
yesterday the kids got a free cell phone! through one of the surveys I take, they wanted kids to try out a new service geared towards kids, so we got one, filled with minutes and everything. as we fill out surveys about it, we get more minutes. the kids are super excited of course! I think its great cause dh was just talking about getting a phone for them and buying minutes for it. so we got blessed and didn't have to spend a penny!
spent a lot of time redoing my blog site. my old server was about to go kapoot on me, so wanted to get my blogger site fixed up. I'm pretty happy with it now.

P-A-I-D
the first bill is PAID OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (there are not enough smilies for my happy dance!

and we just got in the mail today a refund check on state taxes for $138 which will finish up what we need for our first payment on our house insurance renewal! God is Good!!
and this weekend I'll begin on bill #2: Lowe's for $451.22. if I'm only able to pay $30 a month, it'll be done by 1-13-07. I'm hoping for a better payoff time than that though!
I feel good today!!
I put a bright blue highlight line through the first bill on the list for D-O-N-E!! that just feels SO dang good!!! now if someone would please come buy that 4 wheeler to take care of that bill + some that'd be nice!
got our grocery getting done. I tell ya, we gotta start getting out sooner. I absolutely hate being in Wal-Mart in the afternoons! argh! plus the schools are out for fall break, so its like twice the people in there. so hectic.
I put XMen 3 and Little Mermaid on layaway today too. that dang Xmen movie was $24!!
its the collectors edition w/ a special comic book included. whatever. I know dh would want it though so I got it (he better appreciate it I know he will 
).

yep, its me!
Garrett is sleeping on my chest right now. kid NEEDS a nap, dang if he's not been a grouch-o-potamus today! course that's in between all the giggles, he really does have a great personality.
took the kids in town, had to mail a package and wanted to rent Xmen 3, little mermaid, new scooby movie and some kids movies for the kids. been a while since we got new releases really.
dh has been looking forward to Xmen (as have I), so we'll watch that tonight most likely if he gets in in time.
paid another $12 on goodyear and its now down to $59.95!!!! almost there, almost there!!!! even the staff at goodyear are rooting us on now. (they're old friends).
fixed a big honkin dinner tonight: meatloaf, mashed taters, mac & cheese (homemade, not boxed), cheese peas, biscuits and fried green tomatoes.
love it when I feel like whipping up a real dinner. LOL!!
oh, some wonderful news today, I found a new house insurance carrier!! we had actually been with them before, but they stopped carrying policies on double wides, but they've started doing so again. I didnt know til today when I called, but something (God!) had been urging me to call and check. well, we can get our insurance almost $300 cheaper with them than anywhere else has been!!!
such a blessing!!! as soon as we get that first payment together we'll be goign in to fill out the paperwork! awesome!!
Garrett has been consistant in his sleeping pattern. he even went to bed earlier last night, around 9:30 and still slept to almost 5 this morning. awesome! and it was a test of the 'put yourself back to sleep' cause he was restless when I put him back down. a couple of times of patting him softly on the back though and he was out again. yay garrett! still working on getting ME back to sleep afterwards though. sheesh!!

had a good day, stayed in my grocery budget! and that was even w/ buying color ink for my printer that was much needed!
finished off our 2nd box of rice cereal for G, I think that's the most cereal I've ever used. got 2 more boxes that were given to us and after that I've got an oatmeal. don't know if we'll buy anymore after that though, he should be around 6 months by then.
daddy got home safe tonight. he's working Saturday and I've got a sonic shop that day. next week I've got a PO shop and a sonic shop.
gotta get some more eBay up too, and work on my moms site this weekend.

leaving marks already
school went well today. I'm glad to say we're right on track right now and C and K have finished thier first book tests today. a couple more will be done next week, so I'm feeling good! :woo: (Gavin is in different books).
I finally got my hair colored tonight. LOL! was looking pretty rough as the last time I colored it was right before Garrett was born! :eek: yeah, can we say inverted skunk look? :lol: I gotta look spiffy for the reunion this weekend though. :D and Lordy, while speaking of my hair, it's falling out by the mountains! especially when I wash it. tonight I got a whole huge handfull of hair out of the shower! that's not even what I brushed out afterwards. good thing I've gone through this before or I'd be worried! :lol:
Garrett was a grouch again today. I'm not sure what the deal is. I'm wondering if he's a diaper snob. ?? he's always fussy when I use cloth diapers (though yesterday wasnt so bad). I know, silly thing to wonder, but it does seem to coincide. tomorrow will be disposie day since we'll be grocery shopping, so we'll see how he does. course he'll be in different surroundings too. ah well.
made an awesome country dinner tonight! breaded porkchops, mashed taters, gravy, green beans w/ bacon and big ol biscuits! YUM!! Robert was all over it and thanked me for making such great tasting chops! :D Love those dinners! I'm in the hankering for fried chicken too, so may pick me up some chicken tomorrow. or may get a whole fryer and just bake that sucker! YUM!!

oh, my ebay auctions went great! I made $50 today! WOO!! I've gotta buy some ink for my printer, but all the rest is going to our first 'Ramsey bill snowball'! Cant tell you how glad I am to be working towards not scraping by each week! we've also agreed that if either of us want to buy anything over $20 we have to agree with each other. (course doesnt count for things like gas and food, duh. LOL) so that'll help keep us in track too. buckling down, pay stuff off! I'm enjoying my Total Money Makeover book too. havent gotten as far as I'd like since a lot of my time is well, BUSY, LOL, but I'm enjoying it and it's giving me a pep talk already. good stuff!

grouch
not the greatest of days, but we made it thru.
I wonder if G2 is growing some more as during the day the past couple days he's been so cranky, eating like a horse and sleeping so much. it wears me out to say the least, cause I can hardly put him down without getting a crankopotomous on my hands.
I was quite frustrated today with it all. did get better after daddy got home (Garrett loves being with daddy!) and I was able to get dinner made and do some other stuff.
I did end up dumping a plate of spaghetti down the front of my shirt though.
I took some shout to it and scrubbed it up and put it in the washer, so hopefully when I get it out tomorrow it'll not be stained. I'm talking it was over the whole front too. ugh.
I finally got in my Dave Ramsey book today! I'll get started on it as soon as I put the kiddo down for the night. I've got it figured out that we should have our first bill paid off by Oct. 13th. 
I'm getting more stuff ready to list on eBay. some cloth diapers, old video games and baby clothes. might as well move it out and make some money (hopefully).
got new pics of g2 to post. he's been enjoying his tummy time even more w/ being able to keep his head a 90 degree angle and look around. a funny thing, the other night he was on the floor and I put his paci to his side where he was looking. well he was wiggling and squirming trying to get over to it. LOL! he kept looking at it, then would get busy moving, then look at it to see if he'd made any progress. he'll be on the move before I know it!
pulled out the cloth diapers today. I've had them out, but had only used them one day and he was such a crankybutt that I quit. LOL trying again now, but had to thin them out since he's outgrown most of what I had stored on the change table.
some of the smaller stuff I'm just selling off to make room (and money 
). this will slow the flow of buying diapers at least.
I wonder if G2 is growing some more as during the day the past couple days he's been so cranky, eating like a horse and sleeping so much. it wears me out to say the least, cause I can hardly put him down without getting a crankopotomous on my hands.
I was quite frustrated today with it all. did get better after daddy got home (Garrett loves being with daddy!) and I was able to get dinner made and do some other stuff.
I did end up dumping a plate of spaghetti down the front of my shirt though.
I took some shout to it and scrubbed it up and put it in the washer, so hopefully when I get it out tomorrow it'll not be stained. I'm talking it was over the whole front too. ugh.I finally got in my Dave Ramsey book today!
I'll get started on it as soon as I put the kiddo down for the night. I've got it figured out that we should have our first bill paid off by Oct. 13th. I'm getting more stuff ready to list on eBay. some cloth diapers, old video games and baby clothes. might as well move it out and make some money (hopefully).
got new pics of g2 to post. he's been enjoying his tummy time even more w/ being able to keep his head a 90 degree angle and look around. a funny thing, the other night he was on the floor and I put his paci to his side where he was looking. well he was wiggling and squirming trying to get over to it. LOL! he kept looking at it, then would get busy moving, then look at it to see if he'd made any progress.

If only
If only somone would just drop 20K in our laps, free to do what we want with... it'd be so helpful.
