my how time flies

our oldest boy, Canaan, will graduate on the 18th.
seriously.
graduating from high school.
already.
how can that happen so fast and yet it just at times seems to take so long then BAM it's just here and you're going "whaaaaa?!"
we're so proud of him. proud of them all actually. he's set a good example (mostly LOL) for his siblings.
Can't believe graduation is so close. *sniff*

I forgot to post that Sunday I got a Wii fit! our walmart actually had one in stock and dh let me get it! I used it yesterday for the first time and played on it for an hour. my legs are so sore today. I'm looking forward do using it more. seems I'm really good at the yoga stuff, but awful at the skiing stuff!

I got to go get me some capris last night by myself (quiet sweet quiet!). also stopped in at walmart and grabbed an easter basket with a soccer ball at half price. the kids already have plans for it. LOL!

Canaan's first game is tonight (tuesday)! and his regular practice has moved to wed/sun, so I have to change my pickup days again. no biggie. only about 5 weeks of school left anyway!

dang, I know there was other stuff I wanted to yak about...

Sarina says "hi" and waves to almost anyone now. its so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!
I did cold-turkey take her off bottles about a week and a half ago. she's done fine, though we've upped our nursing by probably one extra feeding a day. good trade though.

3-17-09

I've been spoiled the last few mornings with S sleeping in so well. gosh, its goign to break my heart when she has a bad night.
our weather was GORGEOUS today I love this weather!
tomorrow is my next chiro appt plus I need to make a stop at hobby lobby and the mighty dollar.
thursday after school, C's band is trying out for the talent show. I plan on going, hoping my mom can go with me to wrangle kids. they're playing "Gotta Be Somebody" by nickelback. wish them luck!
Gavin had a 'bad' day cause some twerp kid stole both of his backugan's out of his backpack. I could tell he was upset when he got in the truck today and when I asked him what was wrong he broke down crying. my poor little man, having to learn that not everyone is nice.
K and H both had upset tummies today. ugh, i do not want another bug in the house!

speaking of C, he brought home his progress report yesterday. I'm pretty
proud of him. remember at the first report he had 2 or 3 uber F's on
there (talking 20's and such) well, now he brought the math grade up
from a 24 to a 77 (still has another paper to get graded in that score
as well). the science I dont know about yet cause the teacher has been
going back and forth to China for adoption and the subs dont know how to
input the stuff on the puter. but from the website its a good passing
grade. he has 3 As (PE, ART and Real World Math) a B in Math Strategies
(its an 89, so almost an A) and in Social Studies, (and dont ask me why
there are 3 math classes-all taught by the same teacher in the same
period that give 3 seperate grades)
his only known F right now is in Language where he failed a test and is
missing 3 of his accelerated reader tests. he can still turn those in
though before the end of the quarter so hopefully with those the grade
will come up to a passing (its a 50 right now).

so all the kids are home for the long weekend. it'll be interesting
cause C likes to pick on everyone. makes me remember why I stuck him in
school.

I'm going to get started on what I'm fixing for tomorrow today. on my
list is making the green bean mixture for the green bean casserole,
cooking up my sweet taters, making chocolate covered pretzels with nuts,
making two pies and boiling up a LOT of eggs for deviled eggs. but first
we have to go in town. *grrr* I didnt want to go in til friday. :P

I was ready to kick Cs butt again this morning. he has a bad habit of
waking me up before he leaves to ask if he can take his PSP to school
with him (so he can listen to music). I've told him at least 10 times
that NO, he's not taking that to school, at all! but he STILL insists on
waking me to ask! so when he's in today I'm warning him that if he asks
me once more, the PSP will be taken away for a month. cause of course I
cant get back to sleep once he wakes me up like that. little turd. I'll
let him take the MP3 player after Christmas, after all, its only about
$50 where the PSP is $150. ($50 is still a lot to me, but much more
managable if something were to happen to it.)

otherwise, boring day. I'm letting the kids play outside while its still
nice and G is finishing up his juice before he goes out. later I'll have
the kids make hand turkeys for Thursday.

HAPPY 12TH BIRTHDAY CANAAN!
we had a really good time today at the pizza place. he got to invite his two cousins and katlyn got to have cousin heather over as well. my mom, step dad, dad, BIL mike (two of the cousins dad) and of course all of us were there. it cost $60 to feed everyone from teh buffet, but it was worth it. everyone got full and then got to play games. my mom brought a ginormous cake she made. LOL and we all got to pig out on that as well. I've got pics, but darn if I dont feel so tired and like crap tonight, so I'll do it tomorrow.

C's bday party

in good news

Canaan had a good first day of school. he of course talked about things til he went to get on the bus today. ;) we had a lot of paperwork to sign and send back for him. I dont remember having so much stuff from when I was in school. It was a different school though.
I pray things continue to go well for him. He says he likes all his teachers so far, except the Language teacher, who is actually a substitute til mid September, who doesnt like to give extra credit. :)
Today will start some real work for him. Not that I expect him to come in with bucket loads of work, but yesterday all he had was a one page written work for his math teacher about things such as what he did for summer, his family, favorite color and food.
Today is also soccer practice, luckily no early practice to worry about. Though I will worry about the heat. its so awful out this week. 100's all the way around. :( The fun thing though is the coach is planning on bringing water balloons to practice. :)

open house for school

we were late getting home and getting everyone in bed tonight. hopefully everyone will sleep ok. after going to bed, Hunter went to the bathroom saying he thought he might puke. he never did and has gone to sleep now, but that worries me of course!

we left after an hour of practice today. O M Gosh! it was SO freaking HOT outside!!! they had a kid to die, I think in the nashville area today, from football practice outside. terrible!
I had planned on leaving at 5:30, going to get dinner then head to the school, but both the kids were dripping, soaking with sweat. no way I was taking them to the school like that. yuck! so we left at 5, dashed home so they could both get a shower, then back in town and went to Captain D's for kids night.
left there about 20 after 6 and went to the school (the open house didnt start til 7, but I wanted to get there early cause of the crowds).
we hit it right too cause there were already like 100 people there when we arrived.

not flattering of me at all, but oh well. LOL!

I wish I had a notebook or a tape recorder to record my thoughts as we waited in the gym for things to start up. man, thousands of thoughts running through my head! (for one thing, my aversion to crowds kicked in :-D ). We seen many families that we knew and C got to have one of his best friends sit with us while in the gym (he's in 6th grade, so they wont have classes together though).
C was very excited about it all, and nervous! he kept jumping up to go see people he knew and stuff. I finally had to tell him to plant it. LOL!

we got to go in each of his classrooms for about 8 minutes, hear the teachers explain what their class will be about and what will be expected. all the teachers seem pretty cool. I think the SS and Science will be the best ones for him. and amazingly enough, both of those teachers said they're not big on homework! WOO! math will be his last class of the day and she seemed to be a toughie. LOL! not that she was mean, just that she expects high achievement and stuff and well, she just seemed like a math teacher would.
we didnt get to meet the language teacher as she'd gone into early labor, I think today, so the VP was in there to talk to us.
Oh, they had his name wrong! they had his first name as his last, middle as first and last as middle as in James ________ Canaan. duh! I watched them fill in the paper work so I know it was written down correctly. I talked to the VP about that since I had her close at hand and she said she'd take care of it. at first C said "oh its no big deal" and I explained to him that they'd be calling him James Canaan if he didnt get it fixed! LOL!
I stayed behind and talked a bit with the science and SS teachers (his SS teacher is his homeroom).
I'll have a whole plethora of paperwork to fill out come monday!
oh, he didnt get put on band either. I asked if he was ok with that and he said yes. so he'll be alternating between Art and PE every other day for the first half of the year.
AND one of the best things is that they keep all the kids scores on the schools website and the parents can log in any time they want to see how the kids are doing in any subject! that'll make me feel better, knowing I can see how he's doing all the time, as far as his grades go.

I'm still nervous though. he is more than me of course. I'm not sure HOW he'll feel come monday morning, but I think the phrase "big honkin' butterflies" would be pretty close. LMBO!
will I cry when I see him get on the bus? I dont know. I'm not usually an emotional person at things like that, but at this point, I think it might be possible. LOL! I'm going to wait on the porch while he waits for the bus and I'll take pics from there. (wouldnt want to embarrass him by standing by him and taking pics of everything. ).

some more good news is that he's got another of his best friends in 3 of his classes, and the other two he has kids he's friends with as well. so there's someone he knows in all his rooms. he'll also have lunch with them too as all the kids on Honor team have lunch together (from what I understand). so that makes me feel better, knowing he wont be alone in a class.

how dorky do I sound? LOL!

I'll probably be driving myself crazy on monday, wondering what he's doing, if he's enjoying it or at least getting through ok! I just want him to excel so this is also putting a big light on me, showing what kind of job I've done with him. *biting nails* I hope I've taught him well!

awesome news!

I have wonderful news about Garrett though! Seems the equate is doing its magic and he's back up to 24 lbs as of this morning!  I'm SO glad to see that and that he's eating well and another big factor is that he pooped this morning and it was NORMAL!!!! no more runs!!!!!!!!!!  now he can start eating his yogurt again, I'm SO happy!!

his sleep has been whacked, but ah well. last night he woke at 2:30 and 5, brought him to bed with us then and he fussed until I fixed him a sippy and he gulped that down and slept til almost 9. I was soooooooo tired when he woke at 5 though. I really didn't have the patience for fussing then. *blush* thankfully daddy took care of him besides me getting his sippy.

he's playing now this morning, has eaten some breakfast too. the kids are enjoying a day off and Canaan went with dh and FIL down to Nashville.

it'll be a boring day, but I'll be working my butt off STILL cleaning the house! I've already changed my sheets and gotten a big pile of bed linens in the washer, got the dishwasher going, put up some clothes for garrett, got breakfast for the kids, got myself dressed (go me LOL ) and now I'm sitting here.

I did buy myself a present yesterday. while at best buy, I got katlyn her new music clip for her mp3 player, but also got myself the new Inuyasha movie #4.  it included a soundtrack CD and that's what I'm listening to. we'll watch the movie later today!

O Happy Day!

so we had a good day. after church mom took the youngest 4 with them and me, dh, C and FIL went to have dinner at New China (I must have been awfully hungry cause it tasted fantastic!!  :-D ), then off to the college to get there a bit early.
it lasted for almost 2 hours, so we got there at 2:30 and we were almost in our town about 7. (it was scheduled to run 4-6 pm)
after that went to Tori's house for some cake.

in WONDERFUL news, Garrett actually ate really well today!! mom said he'd basically pigged out all day since lunch time! I'm SO happy! said he ate hard, played hard and slept hard. LOL!
he was up every 2 hours last night (yawn-ugh) so I figured his appetite was coming back. but he didn't eat breakfast for me today, except some milk. he had one mud-poop before church, but otherwise, no poops today either!
we did have prayer for him at church today as well. I'm ready for that boy to pack on some more weight! he looks so slinky right now.
he's also walking again (not all the time besides his cruising, just between places), though he's kinda shaky a lot of times.  don't know if he's worried about it now or just cause he went for 2 weeks with not doing it. ah well.

ok, I really need to go to bed! more stuff to do tomorrow and my house is STILL a wreck. *sigh*

well, the good news is he's eaten some more raisin bread this morning. not a whole lot, but its his first breakfast in days! :-)   he also took his milk.
I'm planning on going to walmart when C wakes up to go buy some ensure (store brand) for Garrett. figure that'll at least give him the vitamins and stuff he needs to get some energy back.

come on already!

poor Garrett has had diarrhea today as well, though not as often as he went yesterday, but still it is what it is none the less. he's eaten half way decently today and napped well for me too. I can tell he's just not feeling up to snuff though cause he's just not wanting to play much and when he does he's pretty quiet. :-( I want my well baby back! Canaan also had the same problem today as G. he's better now, but was NOT happy this morning.

in kitten news, I'm not sure if mama kitty will continue to care for him. he was fine this morning and nice and warm in the box (she'd moved him to the box she wanted originally) but she wouldnt go in the box with him all during the day to nurse. if I took him to her she would nurse him fine and clean him some, but she made no over effort to go to him. :-( not sure what we'll do. they're back in the barn tonight so we'll see how tomorrow goes. I really dont want to lose another kitten...

in great Gavin news, he taught himself how to ride without training wheels today! 8-) he's been practicing all week (the T-wheels have been on, just turned up so that they didn't keep him upright on the bike) and today Canaan took them off for him and he did great! I've got pics of course that I'll post later. I'm very proud of him and he of course is VERY proud of himself! :-)

couldn't get OL until tonight. my phone line was totally wonked out. if you picked up the phone, all you heard was an ear-splitting grinding type noise. its still crackly, but at least its usable. I'll be ever SO glad when they decide the area is worth upgrading the phone lines to new ones!

ok, guess that's about it. we do have ball practice tomorrow night. they have a game on Thursday. right now C's team is 5-3, so they're still in the running for first place again!

and tonight

so dh and Canaan buried all 4 kittens up on the back hill where our beloved Tilly and Callie are. I felt so bad for mama kitty though cause she knew her babies were dead (she sniffed them and followed the guys to the burial place) but she still cried for them all day. :-(
in good news though, my mom brought over an abandoned kitten from her place (the mama cat just stopped caring for it) and it was the same age as our kittens that were killed. mom had been bottle feeding him for a couple days, but wanted to see if our mama kitty would take him in.
she DID!  it took her a few sniffs and questioning looks at us (as in "this isn't one of my babies") but the little one was SO excited to have a mama kitty and I think she really needed a baby to love on so she laid down and started letting him nurse.
she took to him very quickly, which I was very happy and partly amazed. just glad it wasn't the other 'temp' mama kitty that was helping to take care of the other babies, cause she wont have anything to do with this one (which I expected of her).
we were worried about its safety though, so I got the PNP out (I keep it outside generally to use out there) and put the kitty box in it cause the baby is a wanderer now. but, mama kitty did NOT like it one bit and would not stay with baby in there. so I turned the box up so it had 4 sides and she was quite happy.
tonight we took them into the garage, which I'd planned on doing, but obviously mama kitty was worried too, cause before dh closed up the garage, she had taken baby kitten in there to a new place. I think she wanted to feel safer too.
so box and all are in the garage tonight and we'll get them out in the morning. I may set her up a temp area in there with a litter box as well.

the shelter lady brought back our other two mama kitties today as well and brought some more food for the cats (I love this lady! :-D ) so all my kitties are home now.

I'm also going to ask her about the possibility of katlyn taking a couple days a month to help her somehow. K loves animals and I think she'd get a lot out of helping Ruth.

Garrett hasn't been sick anymore today, but has had diarrhea all day long. I've cleaned up several puddles of poop from the carpet and the porch. poor little guy, by the end of the day it was just clear stinky farts that he'd pass.  he had a low grade temp this morning, but it faded out by lunch (along with a good 2 hr nap). he ate GREAT for dinner. scarfed up probably a cup worth of fresh green beans and boiled taters! plus his juice mix (w/ pedialyte). that was the most he ate all day though, so I was glad to see it, just hope it stays in where it should!

let's see.. yesterday I got to Sam's club for the first time (did I mention that?) and I know where I'm going to buy the strawberries, kiwi and cherry tomatoes for K and G's party!

ok, I think that's all. sorry if I've not made it to everyones journals. I feel like I've missed out on a lot, but between all this stuff this week, I've not been in an OL mood...

first thing this morning

its been 'one of those mornings' already by 8 a.m.

first when I went in to get garrett, I found that he had puked all over his bed and when I went to change him, discovered that he had messed ALL over the inside of his pjs. I thought we were done with this stuff! :-( he'd not been sick since Tuesday and had finally started eating well yesterday.

so katlyn woke up and I had her start a bath up for him to clean him off. while batheing him, I asked her to take out the walmart bag that had the whole messy diaper in it out to the big trash outside. while outside she found that something had come up and dragged off all our baby kittens and killed them! :'( she of course was VERY upset. breaks my heart that she found them. she loves animals and has loved on thsoe babies from day one. they just had opened their eyes and were starting to wander outside their box. :'(

so we're staying home today, dont want to take a risk of passing anything around (dang it, thought we were DONE with this! 

need a V8

last night gavin started getting sick at dinner. he didnt quite make it
to the bathroom, but he did make it all over the bathroom door. another
job for the carpet cleaner.
then after bedtime, dh got it. it has been YEARS since he was sick to
his tummy. as he says he has a cast iron stomach. got me really worried
after that!
my tummy was upset last night, but I've not been sick (please oh please
let it stay that way) but I have been sitting on the potty. which I'd
rather do than toss my cookies anyway.
dh stayed home from work today (another sure sign that he felt bad )
and everyone is sleeping except me, garrett and hunter.
I'm tired too, but mommy doesnt get that rest yet.
I did sleep on the waterbed last night (with about 8 blankets under me)
and its warming up quite nice now, so we'll be back in our own bed soon!

supposed to have ball practice, one shop for sonic (hope I can handle
that tummy-wise) and PO stop to make. we'll see how the day goes...

*sigh*

seems the 'before bed puking' was only the beginnging. Garrett did end up sleeping for me (woke around 4 to be held for a while before going back to sleep) but at 2, hunter woke puking, then about 20 minutes later C ran to the bathroom to do the same.
they played a tennis match doing the same thing the rest of the night/morning.
they're both now resting in recliners, I'll need to be steam cleaning the carpets and mattress where hunter didnt want to get up to go to the bathroom .
Garrett woke around 7 this morning and after a bit of wallering in the bed with me I got him some juice mix, but that quickly got rejected. he doused himself this time. and me again. and the bed. and the pillows.
I called my mom cause I wanted to see how katlyn was and turns out she woke around 4 this morning getting sick as well.
so all my babies, except gavin (big honkin' knock on wood) are sick. dont know what the culprit was either.
course I'm mostly worried about garrett since he's not eaten much of anything since sunday night. he had been able to keep down juice at least until today. :-( gotta watch him more closely now.
so, new plans for today? a lot of laying around and being lazy.

sun and not so fun

boy, I'm tired! I got a lot of sun today, even though we had a lean-to over us with shade. good thing I put sunscreen on before going over. still got burnt a bit though. my shoulders are touchy (and I have a farmer's tan from my tank top :-D ). we got maybe 50 pots done today, only about 450 more to go.  LOL! yeah, lot of work!
the kids did well though. Garrett wasn't too happy about being in the PNP at times, but once he took a nap (after falling asleep in the swing) and the other he just played. katlyn and the boys did their best to keep him occupied by swinging and romping in the grass. they were all dirty by the end of the day though. my little piglets!

Garrett is still not feeling 100% though. he acts fine, plays great, naps like he should, but he's not eating well still. he again, didn't finish his yogurt this morning, did take some juice/pedialyte mix. at lunch he ate.... um... well, not sure what he ate. oh, he helped mom finish her cereal (special K), but barely touched his PB sandwich. drank a small bit of milk then. and some more juice mix later.
for dinner, he ate some of my garlic bread and I got out my last jar of stage 3 stuff (squash) to see if he'd take that. he ate half a jar for me.
I fixed his bottle for bedtime and he took 6 oz of that and went to sleep on me.
well, I went to go lay him down after typing up in stacy's journal when I reached the bedroom door, he power puked all over me!  totally missed himself! bleh!!!!!!!! nothing like the smell of given-back formula. I didn't have to change him, seeing as he was still DRY *sheesh* but had to completely change myself and wipe off and clean the floor up (which will need the spot cleaner tomorrow).
he went right back to sleep and is laying down now.
obviously we need to hold off on the milk a while longer til his tummy is more set to rights. (reminds me of how hunter did with his first tummy bug). this was the first time he got sick since monday at lunch. :-(

plans for tomorrow are to stay home and get school work done. havnet been able to do anything the past two days. ugh! katlyn stayed at my moms house though, but she's not behind like some 11 year old boys I know.

science test!

in a GREAT round of news, Canaan made a 91% on his science test
yesterday! that's his first A in science this year! Praise the Lord for
the new curriculum he likes!!

nothing much yet today. C has been warned that the two books he's behind on will either be done by friday or his PSP is being taken away. he got a  =-O look about him then.
my mom came over yesterday and gave the kids their gifts they picked up from Gatlinburg. K got a handmade pair of earrings (silver and precious stone), C got a new pocket knife and the 2 boys got bow and arrow sets (plastic with the little suction cups on the arrows) and G got a black/brown bear stuffed animal.
funny story about the stuffed bear. it was laying on the porch by G and one of our male cats was sneaking up on it wondering what it was. I got the bear and shook it at the cat and he bucked up hissing and running! :-D
the boys have been constantly playing with their bow sets, learning how to shoot them and all.
