practice and a big 5 Birthday tomorrow!

practices went well tonight. it was super hot when C started his, but an hour later when K started the clouds had moved in and so did the breeze and it was a nice day to be out (finally!). K got kicked in the knee and jabbed in the side today, but came through fine (other than complaining about boys in general LOL! ).

C has to be at practice at 9 am. I swear this coach doesnt work on fridays. so I'm getting all my bills done tonight and my grocery list as well. I'll just take the paper in with me in the morning.

dh will be coming home tomorrow!! FINALLY!! we've missed him!!!

not sure what we'll be doing for H's bday. we may get him a spiderman cake/cupcakes or just bake some. not even sure what I'm getting him (isnt that sad??) he's liking transformers again (of course) so maybe I'll find an indestructible one to get he got a bday card from the church today and he was feeling mighty special! so while I'm not busy:

to our little rowdy rough-house Hunter Gabriel Mackenzie, who doesnt seem to know his name unless I use at least 2 when calling him! We love you so much and you never cease to keep us on our toes!

kids are SO funny!

so just put G down a bit ago. think I'll try to hit the hay earlier tonight cause my eyeballs feel like they need it.

had a FUNNY Hunter comment though. tonight while fixing dinner, he was helping me with the taters. he'd count them while I peeled ("I took one away, how many do you have left?") and finally after all were done and I'd sliced them up, I told him "Now I'll cook them and we can eat those boogers!" to which he replied "no, just the taters." TOO funny!!!

and tonight G filled his diaper with stinktacular stink again and K and Gavin were sure it was Hunter. they came running to me saying "Hunter's underwear stinks!" "he's got dirty pants!" and poor Hunter is looking perplexed cause he's not even been to the potty in the past while. so I ask him "is your underwear dirty?" he shakes his head no and says "no, they're still clean." well, G toddles up to me then and yeah, there's the skunk in the house!  so I pick him up to go change him and K and G1 are whooping it up in the living room about how Hunter stinks. so I tell them its the baby, not hunter. ...
after changing him I come back out and get ready to fold some laundry. the kids are still whooping it up in the living room, saying the carpet stinks, the couch stinks and everything. (turns out G scrubbed some of the poopy smell into the carpets  :-D ) so gavin, being the investigative person he is, sticks his nose in the carpet and proclaims in a great theatrics "ITS A TERD!!!!!!!!!!" to which sets off a whole 30 minute chase around the living room of It. the IT being the one that "smelled" like a terd! they were laughing so hard they wore themselves out!  course Garrett just sat/stood and watched it all, amazed at them all. LOL!!

10 months

10 month recap of all my kiddos!

starting at the top
Canaan: 32 1/2", 26 lbs

Katlyn: 31 1/2", 22.7 lbs

Gavin: 32 3/4", 26.5 lbs

Hunter: 32", 25 lbs

Garrett: 31 3/4", 23 lbs

I think its neat to see that G is the lightest of all the boys so far. he's on the size scale of Katlyn, which is nice for my hip. LOL! plus he has her curly type hair, but more like Gavin's as his wasnt as curly as K's. he's also walking at 10 months which is what K did. I think that's cool. (not to mention they both had/have reflux issues and such).
and cant you tell from Hunter's pic that he was going to be a handfull?

new pics up!

all the kids like to draw on the computer. their favorite things to draw are Mario and Luigi (from Nintendo) and Katlyn likes to draw Barbie and Bratz girls. :)

having fun standing at the mattress while FIL was in. he was able to climb up on it this time and play on the squishiness of it.

daddy, Garrett and FIL. this is "hug the baby!" LOL!

the one-hand stand

Hunter gets worried about him when he's standing so often gets behind him to 'protect' him. ;) here he was getting ready to show me a kick move when I snapped the picture.

some assisted walking to momma!

perhaps he's not getting enough to eat??

big boys!

took H and Garrett to a checkup yesterday. Hunter is 44.5 lbs and Garrett is 23.5 lbs Garrett's had a BIG jump from his 6 month check! (he was only 19 lbs then).

also, his 2nd tooth is through!  so 2 teeth for the G-man!

must be those pickles!  he is eating much more solids in an average day I think, not more than milk yet, but amping it up for sure. plus my kids are always built stocky, very solid.  no petite kids in this house!  he tried mac and cheese for the first time tonight (the real stuff, not that baby food stuff) and loved it! plus he helped me eat a peanut butter sandwich the other night (just small bites which he scarfed ).

he slept all night last night, which I'm so happy for. still surprised me though, but still he'd napped maybe 30 minutes the whole day.  so he needed to sleep all night! he's had one nap today, about an hour, so we'll see how he does tonight. he's just not a napper.

I'm boxing up a bunch of my maternity and NB baby stuff to send to one of my friends. she's due close to Garrett's edd, so the stuff will work great for her!  she's paying me for it too, and I'd probably not make that much on ebay for it (plus I just don't have the time or want to list the stuff!)

I also got my 2nd bite tonight while G was nursing and trying to chew his thumb at the same time. : goofy boy.

Hunter

oh, funny Hunter story: I've been on the boys lately about not putting clean clothes in the dirty hamper. they have a BAD habit of going through clothes, having something on an hour then deciding to change-therefore putting the other clothes in the hamper. makes for a MOUNTAIN of laundry! (and one upset momma ). so Hunter has this one outfit (the one he's wearing in the pics above) with Tigger and yellow pants he likes. he'd actually worn it the 2nd day in the above pics *blush* but they didnt get dirty til yesterday when they went down to the campgrounds and played. well, this morning I told everyone to go get dressed after breakfast and Hunter comes out wearing the same outfit. I told him he really needed to put on something else cause the butt was dirty, as are the sleeves and that he was going to stink if he dindt put on some clean clothes. so he dropped his head and slowly made his way to his room. about a minute later he pokes his head out of the room and in a tear-filled voice exclaims "mommy, I wanna stink!"

my gosh, I had to turn my head to not laugh right at him!!!! LMBO!!! but of course gave in since we werent going anywhere today *blush*. at least I know the laundry wont be from HIM this week!! ROFL!!

Easter fun update!

Happy Resurrection Jesus (thank you!) and a beautiful day to all!

got a ton of pics to share from this afternoon. will post those in a sec. Church was good, really enjoyed it! I even had some words of wisdom given to me (the spirit gave them to the sunday school teacher to give me-along with other people who had words given). which was really cool, cause it was totally on the mark in something I could understand.
they went like this
1. Your best is yet to come
2. I'll give you wisdom to pass on to your children
3. I'll not change the course I've called you to

now, these are significant to me because I've been having many doubts lately about if I'm a good homeschool mom. (the usual, 'do I do enough', 'how long will I do this', 'is it the best thing', etc...) now, the teacher today does NOT know that I homeschool nor did I say a thing about any of it, its all just been on my heart and mind for a while. so to have those words spoken to me really say a lot and give me a refreshment. so awesome the way God does that!

for service, the group my mom sings with did a special song, His Life For Mine. My mom had put together a video presentation to sing along with the song on the overheads with footage from The Passion and man, it was SO good! everyone was riveted on the screens, just so touching with such beautiful music.

oh, another great thing, Hunter finally got a quiet seat prize at sunday school!!! its been a few months since that happened! LOL!!

we went to my moms after church and started dinner. Dad and the kids got there about an hour later and dh was right behind them. dinner was great, grilled chicken, burgers and hotdogs with mashed taters, corn, baked beans, chips and salad. *yum yum!* mom also fixed banana pudding. hehe!

after the food settled a bit, we sent the kids down to the creek with papaw so we could hide the eggs (over 200 of them!). the kids had a blast to say the least! they all made out with money, some more than others. LOL!
gavin found $22
Hunter found $14
Katlyn found $13
Canaan found $12
the other kids (Anthony and Hayley) also found $, but I cant remember how much). the rest was in CANDY so yes, we are plenty stocked on chocolate for a while! LOL! oh, some real eggs too that mom and I did.

so it was a blast. my brother and SIL came over after the egg hunt and brought Tyson (mini-pincher) and he entertained everyone. he learned how to slide down the slide by himself (so funny!) and the kids got pushed and twirled on the big tree swing. they are surely very worn out tonight!

Time Warp

*all links will go to bigger posts*

one year ago:3-2005
-Our kitty Callie passed away while we were at church this evening.

-I know some friends mean well and only want to say the best thing. I know they didnt mean to say something that actually hurt my feelings.
But, to say "at least I have four children at home" is not going to take away the hurt I feel.
Dont get me wrong! I have been thankful for each and every one of my children from the moment I found I was pregnant! Never would I be unthankful for them!
But it doesnt lessen the pain for the baby that I looked forward to holding in my arms. I still miss that soul.
But-
I am thankful that I was picked to be their momma.

-In my life I've never seen
A more precious sight than what could be
A life, given by the grace of God to hold.
And in my eyes you are to me
A tender, precious loving seed
That never had the chance to fully grow.
And while I cry for what was lost
I feel so blessed that I was chose
To be the Mom that you will someday know.
And so with the Angels you will grow,
But in my heart I'll always know
That my child, smiles upon me from above.
For loving seeds have tender hearts
And nothing on earth can take apart
What God has given us to know and love.

For my baby Gidget with love from Mommy 3-16-2005

two years ago: 3-2004
-another cute kid talk today: i got a pair of shorts out for gavin since it was nice (warm) out. when i brought them to him he looked quite offended and said "PANTIES??!!"
i was laughing like a nut!

three years ago: 3-2003
- Hunter loves the vacuum! if he's cranky all i have to do is plug it in and 'vrooooom'! he chases me everywhere while i'm vacuuming, yanking the cord, climbing up my legs, getting in front of me, smacking it, hollering at it. not to mention the older kids play a game of "its going to get us" through the whole house.
put in with that, Tilly, who runs like a bee's on her butt everytime i get in the same room as her with the thing, it makes vacuum time quite fun.

-hunters wearing a size 4-4.5 in shoes now. me thinks he'll have big feet like canaan at this rate. canaan's first pair of walking shoes at 9 months were a 5.5. katlyn and gavin were both wearing size 3-4 at one year old.

-hunter is now 23 lbs and 30" tall. he cruises, he pulls up, he screams for attention, has 6 teeth. did i mention he also makes julian fries?

-canaan got in his first ball practice today. he was ready to go at 8 this morning! waiting is such a hard thing on a kid

four years ago: 3-2002
-Tiny is doing great (still no names picked yet), he's getting into patterns of wakefulness during the day. he's usually most active first thing in the morning and around lunch and around bedtime. last night while i was reading to the kids he was having a blast in there! those little feet were all up around my ribs, out my belly and my sides, while his little fingers were tickling my cervix and probably punching my bladder. canaan got to feel him moving the other day and finally asked me "why is he moving mommy?" LOL! i thought that was cute. i of course explained to him that babies do move while in mommy's tummies, just like they do when they're born.

-tomorrow is driving to nashville day to pick up the paychecks. :p not my fav thing. i'ts right on the verge of a two hour drive there and back plus the traffic *ugh*
-weight:184, gained 6 lbs *eek!* for a total gain of 11 lbs so far BP: 115/66 (me and the nurse were talking. )
pee test was fine for everything, baby was sleeping so was easy to find on my right side snuggled up. i'm measuring "normal" right between 23-24 cm (whew!).

five years ago:3-2001
-Many good reasons to hate driving in Nashville! when i open the door i see it's a totally child oriented bathroom. i mean, unless i want to practically sit on the floor to pee, i gotta find somewhere else to go! what's up with this????

- my biggest news today made me quite mad! remember when I was talking about the food lion food lion manager and how he wouldn't let me exchange the baby food Gavin cant eat for something he can? so I called the corporate office and they sent me a letter stating that YES, I can exchange it? WELL....
I took that letter in today and showed it to the manager and I'll have you know he STILL refused to let me exchange it!!!!!!! can you believe it????

-we're going to be seeing Dr. Sinatra at Vanderbuilt for Gavin's first eye appointment.

six years ago: 3-2000
- On the good side of things, the baby is getting big enough to make an impact. On my tummy that is.

seven years ago: 3-1999
- As I start my journal today, I guess I can reflect on my other two pregnancies
- I told Canaan I was going to have another baby and he said "ok mommy, the baby in your belly?" Then he puts his head up to my belly and listens for a few seconds and says, "I hear it mommy! I hear the baby!" then he gets behind me and says "I'll help you push mommy." and proceeds to push against my back.
